The Nigerian Army (NA), in its bid to guaranteeing safe conduct of the general elections, has released Hotlines the public should used to report any security breach during the February 11 and March 11 general elections. Releasing the hotlines on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, said it was an effort to effectively carry out its constitutional mandate of providing support to civil authorities and working in synergy with the Nigeria Police to ensure protection of lives and property during the forthcoming 2023 elections.

According to the Nigerian Army, the Hotlines should be used to monitor and report any suspicious act or acts of violence by unscrupulous persons or group of persons capable of disrupting the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general election. It added that the hotlines would also be used to monitoring the conduct of troops deployed to provide security during the election.

"This is part of NA's move to support the lead security agency, the Nigeria Police, for the successful conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections," Nwachukwu said. The statement added: "It could be recalled that the NA had earlier produced and circulated Codes of Conduct and Rules of Engagement for Operation Safe Conduct to formations and Units to provide guidance and ensure that troops operate within the provisions of the codes and rules."

The Nigerian Army therefore enjoined members of the general public to call the phone numbers to report any security breach during the elections.
