Peter Obi Support Network (POSN) has condemned the attack on supporters of the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi by suspected political thugs in Lagos State on Saturday.

POSN in a statement issued over the weekend on the attack on Peter Obi supporters while coming to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), the venue of the party’s presidential campaign rally, called on the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State to investigate the matter and arrest those behind it.

The group further asked the Police to provide adequate security for supporters of Peter Obi who will come to cast their votes on February 25, 2023.

The statement reads: "Our attention has been drawn to the recent attack on supporters of Peter Obi on their way to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) — the venue of the party’s presidential campaign rally by suspected political thugs on February 11, 2023.

“The recent attack on our supporters in Lagos State portends a great danger to the nation's democracy which must be addressed and dealt with by Nigeria Police Force.

“The action of the suspected political thugs is condemnable and we, therefore, call on the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State to investigate the issue and bring those involved to book.

“Furthermore, we call on Nigeria police to also provide adequate security for Peter Obi supporters across the state ahead of the Presidential election which is scheduled to hold on February 25, 2023.”
