Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa
Delta State Government (DTSG) has postponed the mid-term break for the Second Term of 2022/2023 Academic Session due to the impending presidential election slated for February 25, 2023..
The directive to postpone the mid-term break was contained in statement by the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, and her counterpart for Primary Education, Chief Sunday Onoriode,
Delta State News Bulletin, a news medium of the Delta State government, reports that the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, signed the statement on behalf of the two Commissioners for Education.
Delta State News Bulletinquoted the Commissioners as saying that the mid-term break earlier scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 16 and Friday, February 17, 2023, would now be observed on Monday, February 27 and Tuesday, February 28, 2023 respectively.
According to the report, the shift in the dates was occasioned by the forthcoming general election.
The statement directed all Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) in the 25 local government areas of the state to ensure that they bring the postponement to the knowledge of all principals and head teachers in their areas of operation.
