Tattered Naira notes
A commercial bank in the Warri Garage Area Limited could only dispense N5,000 cash over the counter to one customer, a report byDelta State News Bulletinhas revealed.
Even at that, more than half of the payments made in the said commercial banks were tattered 50 naira notes as at the time of filing this report, Delta News bulletin reports.
Some customers outrightly rejected the said naira notes while others accepted them out of desperation.
The same commercial bank like most commercial banks in Warri configured its ATM machines to dispense only 20 Thousand Naira per customer the previous day.
Meanwhile, the sale of naira notes flourished in the hands of some shylock POS operators and black marketers who charged as high as N4,000 for every N10,000 with impunity.
Those who spoke to our correspondent bemoaned the situation as they called on the authorities concerned to wade into the issue in the interest of less privileged customers.
Clifford Omamode wondered about the illicit sale of the Naira and black marketing flourishing amid the scarcity of the Naira.
Susan Mamufo spoke in the same vein as she called for the arrest of commercial bank officers that are behind the Naira crisis.
