Jigawa state government says it has expended the sum of N101,834,312.50 on the purchase of laptops, registration for law school and bursary allowance on 221 Law graduates who studied or were studying at various Law Schools in the country, from 2015 - date.
ExecutiveSecretary, Jigawa State Scholarship Board, Alh. Saidu Magaji, made this known on Thursday while distributing 35 sets of laptop computers procured by the state government to indigenes of the state studying in different law schools in the country.
Magaji stated that this was part of the Governor Abubakar Badaru-led government's policy in supporting law students from the state.
The Executive Secretary said students studying medical and science related courses both at home and abroad were also enjoying government's scholarship to motivate them.
He said that the Scholarship Board has been prompt in paying scholarship allowances and was up to date.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Lawal Yunusa Danzomo, represented by the Permanent Secretary,Alh. Abba Mustapha, enjoined the beneficiaries to reciprocate government's gesture by maintaining the Code of Ethics of the profession, as well as be good ambassadors of the state.
"I also urge you, our future bright legal luminaries, to pay more attention to your studies so as to pass your courses of study very in flying colours," the Commissioner said.
In a related development,Jigawa State government has awarded Mallam Safiyyu Haruna, an indigene of Malam-Madori Council scholarship to read for Master's Degree in Arabic at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he passed out with First Class Degree.
The gesture is in line with the recent approval by the government to award scholarships to best graduating university students.
Haruna broke a 58-year record by becoming the first overall student to pass out with an excellent degree score in Arabic Studies at the varsity's Arabic Department which won him the scholarship.
He thanked the state government for the gesture, promising to excel further to be able to achieve his dreams in life.
