A Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja, on Friday sentenced a 39-year old man, Ahmed Isah, to one year imprisonment for beating up a woman for refusing his love advances.
The Judge, Mr Umar Mayana, sentenced Isah following a guilty plea.
Mayana gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N50,000.
The judge also ordered the convict to pay N23,000 as compensation.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ade Adeyanju told the court that the convict approached the complainant to be his “friend” but she refused.
The convict, he said, injured the complainant, Joliyat Adamu of Mpape, Abuja.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 246 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
