Hon. Agboola Dabiri, Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode on Central Business Districts, has disclosed that the State Government is poised to provide an enabling environment for business to thrive, especially in all the Central Business Districts area of the state.
Speaking at a Stakeholders Committee meeting, the Special Adviser said: “All hands should be on deck to nip in the bud the increasing flight of corporate organisations from Lagos Island to places like Lekki and Ikoyi due to incessant power outage, insecurity and activities of hoodlums and miscreants.”
He disclosed that an operational office would be opened in the heart of the Island where corporate organisations can come to lay their complaints and seek amicable settlement of issues.
The Special Adviser said the issue of power outage has been very problematic leading to the high profile capital flight of organisations that have had to expend a lot of resources on power generation through purchases of diesel and petrol.
During the meeting, officials of United Bank for Africa (UBA) said that the time has come for corporate organisations to develop a meaningful partnership with the CBD with the aim of returning the lost glory of Lagos Island.
While expressing their readiness to partner with the CBD the Head, Public Sector and Personal Banking of the bank, Mr. Oliver Alawuba, appealed to the State Government to give the issue of insecurity, incessant traffic and establishment of educational centres a thought towards securing the confidence and support of other corporate entities on the Island.
