CUPP Spokesman Ikenga Ugochinyere
The spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Ikenga Ugochinyere, on Thursday went heard on the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma over the insecurity ravaging the state.
Ugochinyere, who is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Ideato, said before Uzodinma became the governor, Imo state was the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
The CUPP spokesman described the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of Governor Uzodimma as worse than Somalia, Borno, and Yobe states' killing fields.
Recall that on Saturday, January 14, 2023, motorcades conveying gunmen, arsonists stormed the residence of Ugochinyere, who is also the House of Representatives, PDP candidate for Ideato North South federal constituency, at his hometown in Akokwa, where four persons were killed including his Uncle.
It was noted that Governor Uzodinma, while reacting to the incident, had accused Ugochinyere of violating an agreement that he (the PDP candidate) allegedly reached with unknown gunmen and it was Ikenga’s breach of the agreement that led to the attack.
Mourning the recent development, Ugochinyere, in a statement, expressed sadness, lamenting that Imo currently under Uzodimma’s rule is a counterfeit of what a state government should be.
He also lamented that the recent horrific attack at his residence is proof that the governor has turned the once peaceful state into a killing field.
He urged Imo people to vote out the APC in the forthcoming elections to put an end to the killings.
