Abia State Commissioner for Industries, Chief Mrs Uwaoma Olewengwa
Abia State Commissioner for Industries, Chief (Mrs) Uwaoma Olewengwa has resigned her membership of the State Executive Council. She equally announced her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA).
This is even as Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the announcement of Akujiobu Nkoro as replacement for the former Commissioner.
Speaking on the development, Mrs Olewengwa who was a close aide to Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe said she resigned her appointment for personal reasons and joined APGA because of her desire to partner other progressives in changing the narrative of Abia.
”I resigned from the cabinet on Sunday December 18, 2022 by a letter which I personally handed over to Governor Ikpeazu.
“My reasons for leaving PDP are private and personal but what is important now is that I have resigned from the cabinet and subsequently joined APGA because of my belief that working with the calibre of progressives within the party we can change the trajectory of the state”.
She commended APGA for electing a renowned technocrat in the person of Prof Gregory Ibe as guber candidate, stressing that with his antecedents, Abia will definitely experience massive development if he wins the 2023 governorship election.
Meanwhile, Ikpeazu has approved the nomination of Nkoro as a Commissioner in Abia State.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to Abia State Government, Chris Ezem and forwarded to the Abia State House of Assembly, Ikpeazu Nkoro replaces Mrs Olewengwa. (Daily Sun)
