Some All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups in the South-South have thrown their weight behind the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
At a rally in Uyo at the weekend, the Akwa Ibom State capital, the pro-APC groups hinted that the Tinubu/Shettima presidency is the solution to the problems bedeviling the country.
The rally which was held to show support for the Tinubu candidacy featured over 20 support groups across the South-South.
Speaking at the event, Reuben Wilson who doubles as both the South-South Coordinator of The Asiwaju Group, (TAG), and the founder of the Pastor Reuben Wilson Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability says, the South-South region is ready and willing to work towards the victory of Tinubu in the 2023 presidential elections.
Wilson said he and his team will not rest and allow the region to be under the control of the opposition party, saying he will ensure they go from ward to ward, constituency to constituency to preach the good news of their candidate Tinubu.
Also speaking at the event is Prince Ibitimi Amgbare, who says the candidacy of Tinubu is the best for presidency as hinted by President Muhammadu Buhari who described “Tinubu as a person who has the ability to improve on any situation.”
Other speakers also spoke on the importance of coming together and working for the APC at all levels. One of which is Ntufam Hillard Eta, who is the director, South-South Coalition of Support Groups.
In his statement, he hinted on the importance of coming together and representing massively at all levels to ensure the APC achieves its goals.
He also spoke on the importance of remembering the history of Nigeria, the region and Akwa Ibom State in particular when considering who to vote for.
Recognitions were given to all groups present, while special recognitions were given to some specific groups for the immense amount of effort they have put in recent times.
Pastor Reuben Wilson Initiative for Good Leadership and Accountability was listed for special recognition.
The event featured a lot of APC chieftains across the region and large crowd which came from all over the South-South.
The support groups noted that it is their hopes that by way of their support, APC will be able to reclaim the five states in the South-South which remain with the opposition, and also maintain power at the central come 2023.
