The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board (NSHMB), Dr. Egba Edego, has expressed his displeasure over the nonchalant attitude of staff to patients and patients’ relations.

Dr. Edego bared his mind when he and his directors held a meeting with the Hospital Management Committee of Medical Centre, Mararaba Gurku and General Hospital, Keffi, on August 10, 2022 at the Board Headquarters in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The meeting was meant to identify and discuss serious issues affecting smooth delivery of services at the facilities and proffer solutions.

The CMD, while expressing displeasure over the attitude of staff to patients and their relations, warned that, henceforth, the board would not hesitate to take more stringent disciplinary measures against any staff found wanting. He then urged them to take their job of caring for humanity serious.

During the meeting, Director, Finance and Account, Salamatu Oseze, advised that requests for funds for any purchase should be done properly, while the DPS, Joshua Gyale, said tally cards should be used for items purchased.

In addition, the DHPRS, Maryam Suleiman, advised that patients and health personnel relation be given due attention, while on her part, the DNS, Patricia Osumanyi, emphasized that it was pertinent for staff to be up and doing, have a sense of belonging and imbibe team spirit.

Responding, the Medical Superintendent of MCMG, Dr. David Uche, appreciated the CMD and his management team for their mentorship in ensuring that the personnel do the right thing. He said they have paid familiarization visits to engage with the community and solicited that a harmonized price list be provided by the Board Management as well as additional clinical staff, including doctors and nurses.
