Kogi hunters
Two kidnapped victims, Mallam Sanni Uwaiti, and Ramatu Tukur, have been rescued by local hunters in the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Okehi LGA, King Habeeb, in a statement on Monday, revealed that the victims were rescued after the hunters, who acted on intelligence from men of the Okehi LGA Joint Task Force, engaged in an exchange of gunfire that claimed the lives of two gunmen during the operation at Upogoro Hill.
He said, “The gang had been terrorising people using the Okene-Lokoja Road and Okene-Auchi Road in Kogi State before being nabbed. One of the kidnappers was shot dead during an exchange of gunshots, while one was apprehended who later gave up before arriving in a hospital.
“The hunters also rescued two victims from the kidnappers, namely Mallam Sanni Uwaiti, and Ramatu Tukur, both of the Tollgate area, along Okene and Ajaokuta axis.”
The Chairman, Okehi LGA, Ohiare, said his administration would continue to combat criminality in the council.(The PUNCH:Excluding headline)
