Anosike House has emerged the first runners-up in the keenly contested Laureatefield Schools Inter- House Sports Competition held last Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Ojo Military Barracks Field, Lagos. The House won 16 gold, 20 silver and 22 silver medals.

The Inter-House Sports Competition featured march past and track and field events, which include 100,200,400 and 800 metres races. Other events competed for included 4x4.400 relay and egg race.

Other schools were also invited for inter schools competition.

In the women race Dorothy Anosike of The Sun Newspapers came out tops.

Speaking after the event, a representative of the National Association of Athletics Organization (NATO), Amuwo Odofin Chapter, Ben Unuame, who also acted as the Master of Ceremony, said that with what he saw from the pupils and students, the future of athletics in Nigeria is bright.

He commended the management of Laureatefield Schools for always leading in academics and sports.

In his contribution, one of the major sponsors of the Inter-House Sports Competition and the grand patron of Anosike House, Peter Anosike, promised to continue to support academics and sports development in the school and beyond.

Anosike, who is the founder of Stretch Africa Foundation, a foundation with bias for vulnerable children in Africa, said that it was in order to participate actively in the promotion and sponsorship of child development that he bought Green House in the school and changed the name to Anosike House.

He said that the pupils and students in Anosike House had made him proud by emerging second best in the Inter-House Sports Competition.

In her appreciation, the Proprietress of the school, Maureen Okoro, said: “We all at Laureatefield Schools would like to extend our gratitude to you for the sponsorship of our Inter-House Sports Competition; it was a huge success because of your support. The event turned out to be a very colourful one. The event could not have been possible without your support.”
