A fatal accident occurred on Friday in Jigawa which led to the death of a family of five. The incident, which occurred about 6:03 pm, involved a lone driver at Allalabo village along Dangyatin in Miga Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that at least five persons, including a toddler, died in the accident, while at least two other persons, who sustained injuries, were treated and discharged at a hospital.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Lawan Shisu Adam, who confirmed the development, said the investigation has begun into the incident.
In a statement made available on Saturday, Adam said, “On Friday at about 1803hrs, information from a source revealed that there was a lone fatal motor accident at Alallabo village along Miga-Dangyatin road, involving a Golf 2 vehicle with registration number, PR 340 KMC driven by one Aliyu Salisu aged 66 of Gabari Quarters, in Hadejia LGA from Dangyatin heading to Miga LGA.
“The victim was in the company of members of his family. On reaching the Alallabo area, the said driver lost control and fell into Alallabo water which resulted in serious injuries to him and his family. On receipt of the report, a team of policemen visited the scene, victims were rushed to Primary Health Care Centre, (PHC) Miga, for treatment.
“Later, Ahmed Muhamnad Makama, 35, Isah Aliyu, 8 Zainab Aliyu, 4, Fatima Aliyu 6 and a toddler, Abdullahi Aliyu, a two-month-old baby were confirmed and certified dead by a medical doctor, while Aliyu Salisu, Hafsa Aliyu aged 40 were treated and discharged.”
He added that the corpses were released to their relatives for burial, adding that the incident was under investigation. (Daily Trust)
