No fewer than six people were injuredon Thursday,while several goods were destroyed in a fire incident, which gutted a paint factory at Obosi, near Onitsha in Anambra State.
The Guardianlearnt that all injured persons, who were mostly workers in the factory have been taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

A staff of the factory known as Citizens Paints,who spoke toThe Guardian in confidence, confirmed that all the injured persons, who were mostly workers in the factory, were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention but could not ascertain the actual number of casualties.
Also,an employee in the company,who simply identified himself as Smart,said thecause and the actual cost of the losses could not be ascertained, even as he lamented that looters cashed in on the fire incident to steal phones and other valuables found inside the compound during the raging inferno.
He said: “We have asked the workers to go home for the day and report for normal duty the next day.

“The inferno would not stop production since it was only one warehouse that was burnt before the arrival of the state fire service, who extinguished the fire before it could extend to other warehouses.”
He prayed for the survival of the victims of the fire incident,who were rushed to the hospital.
Another staff said the fire started with an explosion from the warehouse and burned chemicals used in making paints and containers of various sizes before the arrival of the fire servicemen.
Efforts to reach the State Director, Fire Service, Mr. Martin Agbili, an engineer, for comments, proved abortive as his telephone line was not connecting at time of filing the report.(The Guardian:Excludes headline)
