Zinoleesky’s arrest: Fans attack supporter of NDLEA

Fast rising musical artiste, Oniyide Azeez, popularly known as Zinoleesky

The arrest of fast rising musical artiste, Oniyide Azeez, popularly known as Zinoleesky and Mohbad by the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) midnight on Wednesday has continued to raise dust among music lovers.

The latest is the attack fans have unleashed on a Twitter user who justified the raid carried out by NDLEA while referring to a recent musical video shot by the artiste who Naira Marley signed on to his Marlian Records label in 2019.

“You cannot live this way – block roads, play loud music in the middle of the night, smoke igbo boldly on the streets and act surprised that you got raided,” said the Twitter user who claimed the musical video was the real reason NDLEA busted Zinoleesky’s house Wednesday midnight.

But fans have been bombarding the writer on the social media, verbally attacking him for supporting what they say is not right.

Below are a few of the numerous reactions:

“Still not enough reason for those dogs to treat them that way .. besides why midnight?” – @_oyebisi.xx

“NDLEA no dey smoke?” – @hey_itsme_again4

“You say block road? For estate again? Person own house?” – @callme_benjamin_

“Wizkid, Davido and Burna wey dey smoke up and down nko?” – @lucidgetrich

"Block which road please? That is Marlian’s house. If una no dey know something, make una dey shut up nau. Mtcheeewww.” – @marlianbarber

“So does that make it right to arrest him without warrant and invade his privacy? This is SARS pro max, from SARS to EFCC and then they passed the baton to the next oppressor. If a child fall, you first nurse the wound before asking him why he climbed (proverbially sha cos parents dey ask these days)” – @machidalooks

“Funny how people just type shit. Even in the video he had no smoke with him. Why didn’t they go for Naira Marley instead?” – @prodigy_gx

“Na music video, abeg” – @abuja_auto_trade

How it all started

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Wednesday arrested singers Zinoleesky and Mohbad after a midnight raid on their residence in Lagos.

This was confirmed by the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, who said Cannabis and Molly were recovered by the operatives.

“Our men raided an area in Idado estate where Bịara Market boys stay. Some quantities of Cannabis sativa and Molly were recovered from their apartment and car.”

“Six persons were arrested in all. Two females and four males,” he said.
