The Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Thursday, declared two Lawmakers' seats vacant.

The two affected members are Dr. Oliver Osi, representing Ivo constituency and Mrs Lilian Ngozi Eziulo, representing Afikpo North East.

The plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Kingsley Ogbonaya Ikoro, held at the Legislative Chamber in Abakaliki.

The Deputy Speaker citing Section 306 Sub Section 2 &7 of 1999 Nigerian Constitution as amended, said that the seats of the two lawmakers were declared vacant due to the allegation that the House forged their defecation letters from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Adding their voices, leader of the House, Hon Victor Uzoma Chukwu, Deputy Leader, Hon Chief Onu Nwonye, and member representing Onicha West Constituency, Hon Chukwuma Igwe, condemned the actions of the lawmakers, saying that the law must take its cause.

Briefing journalists after the plenary, Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, called on the Youths to be calm and not allow themselves to be used to cause violence as the law would be invoked on the former Deputy Speaker for his actions against the House.

Reacting on the press statement issued by the former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, that nine of APC members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly would join PDP, Hon Ikoro debunked the statement saying that it is false.

They re-affirmed their loyalty to the APC under the leadership of Governor David Nweze Umahi and leadership of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

The Deputy Speaker also called on the media practitioners to be factual in their reportage.

Efforts made to get the reaction of the two affected lawmakers on the development proved unsuccessful.
