At least nine persons were confirmed dead and one other injured in an accident involving a Golf 3 saloon cat and a tricycle in Birniwa Local Government, Jigawa State.
The incident happened near Birniwa town along Nguru road, on Friday.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was said to have lost control, resulting in a head on collision with the tricycle.
The spokesman of the Jigawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamu Shehu, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust in Dutse, the state capital, on Saturday.
Adamu said the incident involved Golf 3 saloon with registration number CZ865RBC and tricycle with registration No. 827NGR.
According to him, the victims were rushed to Birniwa General Hospital for medical attention where all the nine persons were confirmed dead.
NSCDC spokesman said all the corpses were handed over to their families and were buried in accordance with Islamic injunction. (Daily Trust)
