Nigeria shocks Egypt, zooms to AFCON Group top spot

Nigeria this Tuesday evening, January 11, 2022, proved bookmakers wrong by beating favourites Egypt in the Group D opener of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the Stade Roumde Adjia in Garous, Cameroon.

A solitary left-footed goal by Kelechi Iheanacho in the 30th minute was all that the Super Eagles needed to coast to victory.

It was a match in which the Eagles effectively neutralised Pharaohs of Egypt dangerman Mohamamed Salah and dominated for long periods.
