Kaduna State Government has concluded plans to deploy drones in the distribution of drugs to hard-to-reach medical facilities across the state.

Pharmacist Aisha Isyaku, Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Health Supplies Management Agency (KADHSMA), disclosed this at the Kaduna Maternal Accountability Mechanism’s (KADMAM)Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) Accountability Framework Review and Tracking Workshop Wednesday in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The ES who was represented by Pharmacist Musa Murtala Muhammed, Head of Logistic/Operations, KADHSMA, explained that the hard to reach areas include areas with security challenges and where emergency drug supplies are required.

“One of the drone centre has been established in Panbegua, Kubau Local Government, the next one will be at Birnin Gwari in Birnin Gwari LG and other hard to reach areas in Kaduna State.

“Two staffs are currently ingoing training in Ghana,” the ES stated.

Birniin Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Kachina, Kajuru and Zangon-Kataf are the six LGAs facing security challenges in the state.

The state government had invited Zipline a foreign company to establish the drones to improve on medical supplies to all the hard to reach areas of the state.

In his remarks, KADMAM Co-Chairman (CSO) Alh. Mustapha Jumare, said the 2-Day workshop is to get an update on BHCPF implementation in the state.

“It is also to review and track implementation of KADMAM BHCPF Accountability Framework as well as to develop a work plan for tracking and reporting the BHCPF Accountability Framework,” he added.
