The management and the entire staff ofNigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) have expressed excitement over the award of Freedom of Information (FOI), which recognizes the Commission as most responsive government agency.
NIPC beat about 232 government agencies to clinch the award.
Ag. ES/CEO, NIPC, Emeka Offor while receiving the award said the recognition would motivate them to perform better in the future, adding it is the highest level of motivation.
Offor commended NIPC's team for winning the Freedom of Information (FoI) Award.
He however, charged the Management and staff to deepen their efforts so that NIPC in the nearest future would win awards for attracting the highest quantum of investments and as the best investment promotion agency in the world.
He gave this commendation when he was presented NIPC's award by the NIPC FoI Committee who received the award on behalf of the Commission at the National Freedom of Information Awards organised by the European Union, International Press Centre and Media Right Agenda on Friday.
The Ag. ES/CEO stated that the award is great and further motivation to the Management and Staff of the Commission to do more, given that "Recognition is the highest level of motivation - that amongst your peers you are recognised and rewarded as the best".
He further noted that since the Commission is adjudged the best agency in FOI ranking, all Departments and Units in the Commission would need to keep their eyes on the ball to remain on top.
Speaking, the Chairman, NIPC FOI Committee, Mr Sabo Isiaku stated that winning the FOI Award was an excellent parting gift for NIPC's former Exec. Sec/CEO, Ms Yewande Sadiku and a good omen for the Ag. ES/CEO, Mr Offor.
He further stated that the criteria used to rank Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) was their responsiveness to request for information, of which NIPC came tops for the first time.
NIPC was adjudged the first position in this year's rankings after taking the second position consecutively in the last two years - 2020 and 2019, moving over 73 places up the ladder in the last 4 years.
A statement signed by Head, Press and Protocol of NIPC, Daniel Awurum and made available to News Express noted that Isiaku assured of more efforts from the FOI team to maintain this laudable position of being the best government agency on the FOI ranking.
