As the Diocese of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) rounds off its three-day crusade today, the Diocesan Bishop, The Rt. Rev. James Odedeji, has lamented that the Church in Nigeria is under severe attack and urged other churches to join hands with the diocese to pray and seek an end.

Odejeji, who spoke at the opening of the church’s yearly triumphant convocation, tagged: “We are more than conquerors,” noted that because the church is being attacked, people are discouraged and the only weapon available to the church is to pray to God.

He said that was why the diocese had gathered its members to really seek God’s face for three days. He, therefore, urged Christians to remain steadfast, unmovable and know that there is God despite negative criticisms and He has the ability to deliver His people.

Other speakers at the event, include Bishop of Jalingo, The Rt. Rev. Foreman Nedison and Dean, Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral, Diocese of Lagos West, Ven. Ebenezer Adewole, among others.

Calling on political leaders to be sensitive to the plight of poor masses, the bishop said: “Our leaders should listen to God; they should be sensitive to the plight of their subjects and be aware of accountability because everybody will be brought to book on account of what he/she has done. They should know that no king reigns forever as they are there today, they won’t be there tomorrow.
