A middle-aged man who was allegedly bathed with a substance suspected to be acid by his wife on Sunday, November 14, 2021 has died on Monday less than 12 hours after the incident.

The deceased simply identified as Odion was said to have died in the early hours of Monday, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital( UBTH) in Benin city, Edo state after the doctors’ futile battle to save his life.

The deceased’s wife, mother of one, Becky Odion who poured the deadly substance was said to have
immediately escaped soon after committing the heinous crime and was yet to be found as at press time.

The elder sister of the deceased, Esohe Fidelis who was spotted at the St Saviour Police station in Benin City where she went to lodge the complaint said her brother, Odion and the wife, Becky have been having some disagreement over finance.

She said the family had concluded a plan to resolve the financial issue as soon as she reported the issue to the family and wondered why she decided to take the life of her brother.

According to her” Becky threatened on Friday last week that she will cripple my brother and now l can see that she has finally killed him.

“I was in the hospital where my brother was receiving treatment on Sunday and he suddenly died on Monday around 2 am. I want the police to please help find Becky who has escaped. She should be arrested and made to face the law”.

The landlady of the house, Mrs. Patience Idemudia said Odion and his wife Becky have always quarreled and thereafter settled but laments the death of the man.

Mrs. Idemudia said ” This man that died has been in my house for four years with the woman and they both have a child. I really want the police to thoroughly investigate the incident and bring the culprit to justice”
