Women-led CSOs in Brono State have commended Borno State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Madam Zuwaira Gambo, over her efforts to better the lots of women of the state in the last few years.

Presenting the ‘Award of Excellence’ to the Commissioner in her office in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the forum encouraged all other political office holders to emulate the selfless services of the Women Commissioner.

According to the CSOs, the presentation is “in recognition of your ongoing commitment to excellence and changing the status of women in Borno State.”

The Commissioner for Women affairs and Social Development has been at the forefront of war-ravaged women of the state, in reaching out both the local and international NGOs and CSOs that daily visit the state to affect the lives of women, children and the vulnerable in the society.

Responding, the Commissioner appreciated the state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for giving her the opportunity to serve the state, and dedicated the award to the Governor in his efforts to salvage the women of the state.

“We dedicate this award to the father of the vulnerable especially women, His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum,” she said.
