The Anambra State Government has threatened to withhold the salaries of her workers that abstain from their duty posts tody Monday in obedience to the sit-at-home declaration by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The group had announced a sit-at-home protest every Monday in the South-East starting from today August 9 as a punitive way to prevail on the Federal Government to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu, whose court appearance was shifted to October is currently in detention in facility of the Department of State Security (DSS) for alleged treasonable felony.
The Anambra State Head of Service, Harry Udu, in a public service announcement on Sunday called on civil servants in the state to report to their duty posts on Monday unfailingly or be sanctioned.
The announcement directed Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries to monitor the situation and report accordingly.
The announcement reads in part: “The Government of Anambra State has directed that all workers in the state must attend to their duties on Monday 9th August 2021.
“Failure to do so will result in severe sanctions including loss of salary for the month of August.
“All Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries are to monitor and report compliance, please.”
