Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Senator Victor Umeh, has given assurance that the ongoing tussle between the party’s governorship candidate, Prof Charles Soludo, and the factional candidate, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, over who will flies the party’s flag for the November 6 polls will soon be a thing of the past.

He said the Peace, Reconciliation and Outreach Committee of the party will settle the tussle to pave way for smooth campaigns that would bring victory to the party.

Umeh gave the assurance shortly after the committee’s meeting with some of the aggrieved party members in Awka on Wednesday, said the ongoing political power tussle is a prove to Nigerians that APGA remains the third largest and recognised political party in the country.

He added: “Prof Soludo and Hon Umeoji, have been in the political battle of who flies the party’s ticket immediately after parallel primary elections were held in which Victor Oye-led faction produced Soludo while Jude Okeke-led faction produced Umeoji as the party candidates respectively.

“The political tussle between Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and Honourable Michael Chukwuma Umeoji over who flies the party’s ticket on November 6, 2021 governorship election in the state will soon come to an end.

“The important thing is that the ideals for which this party was established in 2002 must be protected no matter the interest anybody is pursuing in this party.”

Umeh, who was appointed by the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, to head the Reconciliatory Committee, said it had become necessary to bring members of the party in the state together as one family in order to successfully confront the various tasks ahead, especially, the forthcoming election.

According to him, the team has held a closed-door meeting with Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late national leader of the party, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, where she agreed to work for the success of the party.

While noting that APGA was the only hope of the southeast, he urged Jude Okeke and his supporters to sheathe their sword and allow peace to thrive in the party.
