The Coalition of Igbo-British Lawyers has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Federal government to return Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to the United Kingdom or be prepared to face resistance by the group and their sympathisers.

They tasked the Nigerian government to follow legal processes and file extradition notice to the IPOB leader, if he had any charges to answer as a country governed by constitution.

The Coalition accused the Kenyan government of complicit in what it called illegal detention of Nnamdi Kanu.

The Coalition said while their accusation serves as a pre-action notice to the Kenyan government, they are heading to the International Criminal Court at The Hague, to reverse the injustice done to Kanu. They said in a statement obtained by News Express on Wednesday, in Abuja, they would not hesitate to resort to legal means to resist the “declaration of war on not only Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, but on all Igbos generally.”

The statement said it was worthy of note that Kanu had his British passport when he entered Kenyan and that the Kenyan government was fully aware of Kanu’s citizenship status, adding that it does not only breach the personal human rights of Kanu, but also undermines the sovereignty of the British government.

The statement signed by Attorney E.R Okoroafor and issued in Glasgow, Scotland, warned that no bodily harm must be done to Kanu.
