The Anambra State Government has announced a security review in response to the security challenges in the Southeast geopolitical zone.
The development was contained in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba on Tuesday.
The government explained that it has the cognizance that the review has resulted in traffic delays at security checkpoints in different parts of the state, noting that the delays have caused much inconveniences to travellers who are required to disembark from their vehicles for security checks especially during the Easter festive season.
The government, however apologised to the people of the state especially Ndi Anambra residents for delay and inconveniences the security development has caused.
The statement reads partly: “The Anambra State Government would like to inform the good people of the state that in response to the security challenges in the Southeast geopolitical zone, a review of security measures is going on in the state.
“The review has resulted in traffic delays at security checkpoints in different parts of the state. The delays have caused much inconvenience to travellers who are sometimes required to disembark from their vehicles for security checks. We are much aware that a lot of our people have been returning home from far and near to join their families, associates and friends to not only celebrate Easter but also participate in a lot of social events, including fund raisers for scholarships and development projects.
“While apologising to all and sundry for the considerable delays and accompanying inconvenience which Ndi Anambra are experiencing, we urge them to continue to cooperate fully with various security officers.
The government while re-assuring the people of the state of security and protection over their properties said the security review is for the public good, further urged them to continue working with the government, security officials to make Anambra remain the Light of the Nation.
