Professor Soludo
Following the attempt on the life of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the Coordinator of Soludo Support Group (SSG), Lagos State Chapter, Chief Tony Okeke, has called on the lovers of Anambra State to continuously pray for the safety of the professor of economics.
Okeke, who is also the President of Mandilas International Trade Center (MITC), Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, said on Friday that “with the level of desperation being witnessed at this early stage, which is most likely to escalate as the election draws near, Prof. Soludo needs to be committed into the hands of God.”
He said in a chat that the struggle is not for Soludo alone but the masses of Anambra State who are in dire need of better life, since if two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.
Chief Okeke said that Prof. Soludo going by his attainments both national and internationally does not need the title of state governor but was persuaded to contest by those who want the progress and development of Anambra State.
According to him all the members of Soludo Support Group nationwide would declare special days of prayers for the guidance and protection of the former CBN Governor and would continually be in prayer until the election is over and he is sworn in as the next governor of Anambra State.
Making reference to the death threats he was receiving during the banking reform programme, he said that Prof. Soludo is a general in mufti, adding that once he set him mind on something he does not go back.
His words: “Becoming the governor of Anambra State does not give prof Soludo any leverage. He has made his voice mark on the sands of time. He has left indelible mark in history. He just came out because of his love for the people and as such he deserves our prayers.”
