League of Anambra Professionals President, Chijioke Okoli SAN
The League of Anambra Professionals have condemned the attack on former CBN Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, which left his three police orderlies dead during the week.
The incident took place at Isuofia Civic Center in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State while Soludo, a governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was holding a town hall meeting with no fewer than 1,000 people.
Reacting to the attack, the group, in a statement signed by its President, Chijioke Okoli SAN, on Thursday condemned the attack in strong terms.
While commiserating with the families of the slain policemen, Isuofia community, police command in the state, the group called on authorities not to forget the families they left behind and to ensure prompt payment of their due benefits.
It also charged security agencies in the state to redouble their efforts to release abducted victim (s).
“The League of Anambra Professionals regrets this most unfortunate development and would first of all commiserate with the families of the slain policemen, the Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Police and the entire Police. May the souls of the officers who died on active duty rest in peace and we call on the relevant authorities to not forget the families they left behind and to ensure prompt payment of all due benefits.
“Our prayers and concern are equally with the kidnap victim and his undoubtedly traumatized family. We pray for his safe return even as we demand that the security agencies redouble their efforts towards that end.
“Similarly, we sympathize with the Isuofia community for the undeserved unwanted attention it has got from the incident and the trauma suffered. All said, we condemn in the strongest terms this brazen assault on not only the Isuofia community and Anambra State but on civilized human interaction” the statement partly reads.
While sympathizing with Soludo on the deadly attack, the group called on all gubernatorial candidates in Anambra to subscribe to non-violence politics without any bitterness.
It as well called on Anambra State government and security agencies to step up security and stem the growing tide of brigandage and high incidence of murders in the state.
