The Coordinator of Lagos State Chapter of Soludo Support Group (SSG), Chief Tony Okeke, has described the assassination attempt on the life of former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, as the handiwork of those who do not want the progress and development of Anambra State.

As previously reported byNew Express, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen yesterday evening, Wednesday, March 31, stormed Prof. Soludo’s town hall meeting in his home town, Isuofia, with the intention of killing him, but they ended up killing three of his security aides.

Reacting to the unfortunate development, Chief Okeke said that those who want Soludo dead are enemies of Anambra people.

According to him, “They don’t want development of Anambra State because it has become crystal clear that he is the next governor of the state.”

Okeke said that since the former CBN Governor declared his intention to serve the people of Anambra in the capacity of a governor and began to reach out to the people, “there has been panic in the camps of the enemies of Ndi Anambra.”

He said that the reason is because the enemies have realised that he is the choice of Anambra people and as such nothing can stop him from winning the November 6 governorship election.

The Lagos State SSG Coordinator said that the assassination attempt clearly showed their level of desperation.

However, “whoever his time has come, nothing on earth can stop him,” Okeke said, adding that “this is Prof. Soludo’s time and as such the workers of iniquity are working in vain.”

He called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu “to fortify with immediate effect the security around Prof. Soludo and to commence investigation to fish those behind the botched assassination attempt.”

His words: “Since Prof. Chukwuma Soludo declared his intention to run for the office of the governor of Anambra State, the camp of the enemies of Ndi Anambra has been in state of panic. They have been jittery because they know that he is going to win and that his government is not going to be business as usual. So, they want to do anything possible to stop him from contesting, let alone winning. But the God of Ndi Anambra will not allow them to succeed. Prof. Soludo want to bring his numerous formula which are been used in the development of other countries to Anambra State. But those who don’t want Anambra to develop, those who don’t want Anambra to become a frontline state are trying to stop him. God will not allow them to succeed.”
