The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Staff Union has commended the Executive Secretary of the Commission/CEO, Mrs. Uju Aisha Hassan Baba, (OON), for the various strategies she has been putting in place to reposition the organisation since her appointment few weeks ago.
Chairman of Union, Mr. Ahmad Isah Ghondi, said that Mrs. Baba deserves commendation for the critical changes and reforms being made in the Commission since she assumed office, as part of her efforts to attract massive investments into the country, particularly in the non-oil sector.
The union in a congratulatory message to Mrs. Baba noted with pleasure that virtually all seemingly insurmountable issues which had fuelled the recent crisis, agitation and unrest that characterised the eleven and half months tenure of the sacked Executive Secretary, Ms. Saratu Umar, had been resolved.
“Staff of the Commission are once again gainfully engaged and motivated to effectively deliver on its core mandate of proactive investment promotion with a view to facilitating the diversification of the economy using private capital,” the union said.
It particularly noted that Mrs. Baba had already commenced strategic reforms in the coordination of the One Stop Investment Centre (OSIC) and the administration of vital investment incentives to prospective investors.
Furthermore, the Executive Secretary was working on the review of Nigeria’s Model draft Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (IPPA) to enable it effectively address the sustainable development dimension of the country’s quest for foreign direct investment.
