After his recent nomination, Prince Sulaiman visited the symbol of their ancestral royal compound to pray for the repose of the late monarch, Oba Musa Olatunbosun Adebayo, Akinsilo 11, and the progress of the ancient town.
Comrade Sulaiman also visited his mother, Olori Halimotu Aduke Adeniyi,
where he received her blessings on the nomination to become Alawo of Awo kingdom.
Prince Alimi Akanfe Adeniyi family is among the seven royal families comprising Abioye ruling house that would produce the next monarch of the ancient town (Awo), after the reign and death of immediate past Alawo of Awoland, Oba Musa Olatunbosun Adebayo from Akinsilo Ruling House, on Wednesday June 24, 2020.
The others are Adeniyi Royal Family, Adesola/Aremu Royal Family, Gboyelade Royal Family, Adetoyi Royal Family, Olawuyi Royal Family, Shittu Olaniyan (Eruobodo) Royal Family and Adegboye Royal Family
News of Prince Sulaiman’s nomination at an emergency meeting of the royal family held in the town was contained in a letter dated July 3, 2020. It was signed on behalf of Prince Alimi Akanfe Adeniyi Royal Family by Prince Abubakar Adeniyi and submitted to the head of the Abioye Ruling House, Prince (Alhaji) Abdulkareem Adegboye for onward transmission to the State Government for approval and necessary rites.
The copy of the nomination letter also forwarded to the Chairman of the Egbedore Local Government, Awo for notification and necessary action.
The letter reads in part: “As we all know that our Ruling House which is Abioye Ruling House is the next ruling house to produce the next Alawo of Awo in line with the order of rotation of Alawo of Awo Chieftaincy Declaration of 1978 that listed as follows: Awojobi, Akinsilo (immediate past), Abioye (next) and Okunji.”
Receiving the nomination letter, the head of the ruling house, Alhaji Adegboye, was full of happiness that the royal family submitted their nominee without any rancour, prayed for the nominee to be the best choice for the ruling house that would be on the throne of Alawo, at the end of the whole process.
Abubakar further stated that the family has confidence in the capacity of Prince Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman to turn around the town from grass to grace within the shortest possible time of being on the throne, describing him (Prince Sulaiman) as the epitome of courage, truth, egalitarian society and royalty.
He noted that Prince Sulaiman is a fearless, courageous and tireless activist, a dogged fighter, and a reliable Prince, who has done the ancient town proud in all ramifications.
Abubakar then, urged the State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola whom he described as a listening and just leader and prescribing authority to affirm the nomination to ensure that the due process was followed without fear or favour in choosing the next monarch of the ancient town in order avoid future catastrophe for the community.
