Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State
A community leader, Tajudeen Omotayo, who was kidnapped on Saturday in Imope, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State has regained his freedom from his abductors
He was said to have been released on Tuesday night after a sum of ₦5.5m was allegedly paid by the family to secure his freedom.
His abductors had earlier demanded ₦100 million ransom before they could release their victim.
The gunmen had abducted the community leader on Saturday while coming back from a meeting from Ijebu-Ode in his vehicle.
He was reportedly accosted at Oke -Eri area of Imope, pulled him out and took him away to an unknown destination, leaving his vehicle on the Ijebu-Ode – Oru – Ibadan road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the development but denied any ransom paid, saying that he has no knowledge of such. (Channels TV)
