Fleeing inmate Chidi Nwankwo

Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) in Anambra State has revealed the identity of the inmate freed by unknown gunmen during an attack in Anambra last week.
The attack which happened at Nanka, Orumba North local government area of the state while the inmate was being taken back to Ekwulobia correctional facility from court led to the killing of men of the services and a police officer, even as the inmate was taken away.
A press release by the Anambra Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC, Francis Ekezie gave the name of the freed inmate as Chidi Nwankwo.
He called on members of the public to help locate the escaped inmate.
The press release partly reads: “This is the face of the inmate whose gang members allegedly attacked the Nigerian Correctional Service escort vehicle on its way from the court at Nanka, Anambra State.
“He was forcefully released after killing the escort NCoS personnel and a police officer.”
It gave the particulars of the fleeing inmate as follows:

Offence: Secs; 82&83 of Criminal Code Law Anambra State (accessories after the fact-definition of & accessories after the fact to felonies).

Religion: Christian (Pentecostal)
The statement described Nwankwo as a native of Enemuogo kindred, Umudiabo village, Ndiowuu in Orumba North L.G.A of Anambra State.
The inmate was accused of assisting his brother, Anayo Nwankwo who was being tried for arson to escape, leading to his own arrest, before he was freed by the gunmen last week.
According to Ekezie, a cash reward of N200,000 for anyone with useful intelligence that can assist in his recapture has been announced by the State Controller of NCS, Barr. Emmanuel Nwakeze.
