NSA Monguno
Civil rights advocacy group, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the continuous attacks by terrorists in the North West especially because of the two months deadline he gave them.
HURIWA called on Nigerians to initiate instantaneous and impactful mass actions to build up pressure on the President Buhari-led administration to immediately provide workable solution to the increasing threats to national security and the lives of citizens.
The rights group also asked that Nigerians should appeal to the President of the United States of America and the United Nations to send armed troops to safeguard the lives and property of the good people of Nigeria so that the country does not collapse.
The rights group said the President Buhari should be put under intense pressure to safeguard the lives and property of the good people of Nigeria or quit to allow for a competent and meritorious patriotic Nigerian to implement the most workable and quick win approach to end the spate of killings and kidnappings masterminded by mostly armed Fulani herdsmen turned militia and terrorists who definitely seems to be enjoying patronage from some powerful forces within the Federal Government and some states in the North West of Nigeria.
HURIWA condemned the President for failing to arrest all the terrorists that kidnapped students on Katsina, Zamfara and Niger states.
The rights group said the government has demonstrated the highest level of crass irresponsibility and total incapacity and unwillingness to wage law based actions to stamp out the high rate of armed insurgency, terrorism and kidnappings by mostly Fulani militia because some top officials are benefiting and those who ought to protect the National Security interests are busy chasing after religious and regional agenda.
HURIWA lamented that security has deteriorated to the ridiculous extent that even the Nigerian Customs had to bribe bandits with bags of rice to escape being kidnapped in Katsina.
HURIWA also carpeted both President Buhari and his National Security Adviser (NSA) Maj Gen Monguno (rtd) for even contemplating the illegal decision of handing terrorists two months deadline to surrender or be crushed just as the NSA saw nothing wrong that the Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi, has been busy defending and advocating blanket amnesty for terrorists which is a justification and support for terrorism which the anti-terror law frown against.
“President Buhari promised Nigerians that the Jangebe Zamfara school kidnapping will be the last but sadly because he lacks the political will to deal with terrorists, these same terrorists have once more struck at the heart of Kaduna and taken away dozens of female students and till now, the President is busy dishing out incoherent orders to his military forces. On one hand the President threatens to deal with the terrorists but on the other hand he gave them two months to decide whether to stop kidnapping.
“Nigerians should know by now that this government lacks the capacity to protect Nigerians and the best bet is for the masses to organise demonstrations to call on the United States of America and the United Nations to come into Nigeria and rescue the Citizens before we are all kidnapped.”
