Finished and completed! By Professor Echefuna’ R. G. Onyebeadi

President Buhari andSenate PresidentAhmed Lawan

In recent times, I have had cause to ponder on the difference between the words FINISH and COMPLETE.

Complete – meaning, bring to a finish or an end.

Finish – meaning, have an end, in a temporal, spatial or quantitative sense; either spatial or metaphorical.

One thing I find common in both words is END!

So, when both words are combined like finished completely or completely finished to describe a situation, then, it becomes an absolute end, irreversible, irretrievable and not redeemable!

The combined words of Complete and Finish or conversely, to say the very least, amply describes the sorry state of the present National Assembly, particularly this 9th Senate under the ‘headship’ of Alhaji Ahmed Lawan and indeed Nigeria under the ‘rulership’ of Alhaji (Major-General Rtd) Muhammadu Buhari!

So, anything goes now in Nigeria irrespective of the wishes of the people whom the National Assembly (NASS) claim to represent!

Anything goes and it doesn’t matter anything to the oath of office and operating Constitution the political gladiators swore to uphold!

People’s opinion and wishes no longer matter in Nigeria. The electorates don’t matter! – Well, have they really ever been?

Oh, sorry. How will a mere opinion or wish of the people matter when even human life in Nigeria doesn’t matter under this Muhammadu Buhari’s regime!

Yet, both NASS and Major-General Muhammadu Buhari claim to be voted into office by the same people they both so much deride and even surreptitiously aid terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and all manner of criminals to dispossess, maim, rape and kill?!

Despite the very weighty allegations against the EFCC Chairman nominee, Abdulrasheed Bawa, which are easily verifiable to wit: that the nominee is not qualified by his present status/rank as stipulated by law apart from being a cousin of the Minister for “Justice” whose Ministry oversees the activities of EFCC among other allegations, this Ahmed Lawan-led 9th Senate still went ahead to confirm that appointment!

How ridiculous, provocative and damning?!

This is not only absurd, it shows clearly that, the *Senate as presently constituted under Ahmed Lawan is finished completely and Nigeria in this Muhammadu Buhari’s regime is completely finished!

So, what next?

Last Line:

OH, NIGERIA! – WHAT A COUNTRY!!

Even if this nominee’s status/rank is equivalent to that of an Assistant Commissioner of Police as stipulated in the EFCC ACT, which obviously, is not; what about the weightier allegation that he is a cousin of the Minister for “Justice”, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, whose Ministry oversees the activities of EFCC among other allegations?

Shall we all continue to sit and watch this country Nigeria ruined? Shall we?!

Are they taking us all to be fools and/or idiots?

This abuse of office, open insult and affront on the people of this country is one too much!

If this anomaly is allowed to stay, then, the country Nigeria is as good as dead! Then, the people can as well corus – to your tents o peoples that make up this contraption called Nigeria!
