I will tackle Nigeria’s problems head-long, President Buhari assures •Relocates Military Command to Maiduguri to crush Boko Haram

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his administration will decisively tackle the country’s problems.

“We face a lot of challenges,” Buhari admitted in his inaugural speech shortly after his swearing-in at Eagle Square, Abuja, by the country’s Chief Justice, Justice Mahmoud Mohammed. He identified the major problems to include insecurity, power shortages, unemployment and corruption. “We are going to tackle them headlong,” the President assured. “Nigerians we must not succumb to hopelessness,” he stated.

He disclosed that his administration would relocate the Military Command Centre to Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, “until Boko Haram is eradicated.” He also restated his commitment towards the rescue of the Chibok schoolgirls.

Buhari promised to keep his oath of office and serve as President to all Nigerians. “I believe to everybody and I belong to nobody,” he stated.

He appealed for the cooperation of all Nigerians and the international community, promising that the federal government under his watch will not encroach on the work of the legislature and judiciary.
