The daytime curfew imposed on Maiduguri, capital of Borno State, has been suspended, the 7 Division Nigerian Army announced this evening.

“We revert back to the normal curfew of 1900hrs to 0600hrs,” Colonel Tukur Gusau, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Div, said in a terse statement.

The curfew was originally for 24 hours and came into force on Thursday morning following Boko Haram’s failed bid to invade Maiduguri on Wednesday night, during which the terrorists were repelled by gallant Nigerian troops.

The curfew has been progressively reduced over the past three days, indicating the military’s increasing confidence to decisively deal with any attempt by terrorists to attack the city.
