Buhari, Osibanjo lead heavyweights to Edo to celebrate with Oshiomhole and new wife

President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), and Vice President-elect, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, yesterday led the creme-de-la-creme of the Nigerian society to the polytechnic town of Auchi, north of Edo State, as the state’s governor took his beautiful heartthrob to the altar.

The colourful event began at around 10:00 a.m., kicking off with Governor Adams Oshiomhole and Miss Iara Fortes signing their marriage papers at the Marriage Hall in Auchi amidst a serene atmosphere surrounded by close family members and friends of the couple. Oshiomhole, a famous labour leader before he veered into politics, lost his first wife Clara to cancer and it took him five years to find love again.

The marriage reception, which took place soon after at the People’s Hall in Oshiomhole’s country home in Uzairue, Edo North, witnessed a much more larger turnout of who-is-who in the country, including politicians, captains of industry, religious leaders and professionals from all walks of life.

Adams, bedecked in a black suit on top a white long sleeve shirt and a black tie, looked a happy and contented man as he smiled and admired continuously his beautiful catch who is a model from Cape Verde.

Iara, dressed in a white sleeveless gown and considerably younger than her husband, cut a graceful figure during the occasion.

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains were led by its National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun. Governors and governors-elect across the country, Senators Bukola Saraki, Domingo Obende and a host of others and Senators-elect from across the country were also in attendance.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal was around to lead members of the legislature to the ceremony.

Royal fathers were not left out, with the Oba of Benin being represented by a number of high-ranking chiefs.

Also present were politicians from the opposite end of the country’s political divide, including top members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State like Chief Tom Ikimi and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
