Kaduna Electric has began a recruitment exercise that will see the creation of over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs, a statement issued by the company has said.
The statement, issued today in Kaduna and signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, said the exercise kicked off over the weekend with an aptitude test for all inherited staff of the company who applied for the various jobs available. Abdullahi said the exercise was held simultaneously in Kaduna, Gusau, Sokoto and Birnin Kebbi.
Staff of the company who had already been disengaged and paid their severance packages under the terms of the sale of the company by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) had been given six months contract employment which is to expire at the end of this month.
They were however encouraged to reapply in order to give opportunity to deserving ones to be re engaged to bolster the new workforce of the company. Over 3,000 staff sat for the aptitude test in the four centres.
The statement said that successful candidates would be invited for a first and second stage interview along with external candidates whose aptitude test date would soon be announced. It added that the company has put in place a mechanism to ensure that the exercise is transparent and only the best candidates are selected.
Kaduna Electric explained that in order to deliver on its mandate of efficient delivery of electricity to its customers, it need a young and dynamic workforce, hence the recruitment exercise.
