Akwa Ibom Governor-elect inaugurates Transition Committee

Akwa Ibom State Governor-elect, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, has inaugurated a 21-member Transition Committee, with a charge to “ensure a hitch-free transition to the next administration on May 29, 2015.”

The committee, inaugurated at the state Banquet Hall, Uyo, at the weekend, has Chief Sunny Akpadiaha, a former Head of Service in the state civil service, as chairman. Mr. Udeme Ufot serves as vice chairman, while Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem serves as secretary.

Deacon Udom Emmanuel, while inaugurating the committee, noted that its composition cuts across the academia, political and business classes, assuring that his “government will build a state that gives opportunity to all.”

He told the members: “With this singular act of reading out these names, I hereby inaugurate this 2015 transition committee to offer the realisation of the Divine Mandate for the people of Akwa Ibom within a time frame of two weeks.” He thereafter read out a 10-point terms of reference for the committee.

The governor-elect once again promised to run a “people-oriented government where the common man on the street will feel the gains of governance.”

Responding, the committee chairman, Chief Akpadiaha, pledged their loyalty to the current administration of Chief Godswill Akpabio, and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by the new governor-elect.

“We see this appointment as an opportunity to offer our services, and will deliver our mandate in two weeks, with the co-operation of all the government ministries, agencies and departments.” the chairman assured.
