The quarter-finals of the 2015 European Champions League continue tonight with the second set of games that are bound to have spectators at the edge of their seats for the entire 90 minutes.

Perennial favourites Barcelona of Spain are away to French champions PSG, while FC Porto of Portugal will entertain another favoured side, Bayern Munich of Germany.

The first set of games last night took place in Madrid and Turin, leaving both ties finely balanced going into the second legs.

At the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Spain, hosts Athletico Madrid and local rivals Real Madrid battled to a scoreless draw. Real Madrid, who have suffered some battering in the hands of Athletico in the Spanish LA Liga in recent times, were eager not to be beaten this time, as they looked the likelier of the two sides to score for much of the match.

However, with coach Diego Simeone famed for fashioning an aggressive and defensively efficient Athletico side, the hosts played with the needed defensive discipline to keep Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzeema, Toni Kroos, Gareth Bale and Lula Modric from registering a crucial away goal for the visitors, who are the defending champions.

In the final ten minutes, Athletico began to pile the pressure on Real, with substitute Fernando Torres putting up some aggressive display and tricky footwork. However, Real held firm to see both teams satisfied after the final whistle.

In Turin, hosts Juventus secured a 1-0 win over Monaco. The decider came from Arturo Vidal’s penalty in the 57th minute after veteran central defender Ricaldo Carvalho was adjudged to have fouled Juventus attacker Alvaro Morata in the vital area.
