Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma
By DAMIAN DURUIHEOMA, Owerri
Those battling to remove Senator Hope Uzodinma as the governor of Imo State have been advised to channel their resources to fruitful ventures as no power can remove him from office.
A kinsman of the former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, and state commissioner for environment, Dr. Iyke Njoku gave the advice at Aboh Mbaise council headquarters, when a governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2019 election, Barr. Obioma Akagburuonye defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Njoku said, “Nobody can remove Governor Hope Uzodimma from Douglas House irrespective of the machinations by our opponents. Senator Uzodimma came into power through God. So, anybody plotting anything against him will fail”.
He vowed that the APC, under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the state, would no longer allow power slip from its hands.
The commissioner commended Barr. Akagburuonye for defecting to the party with his followers, saying, his move would save Mbaise people from perennial political mistakes.
“We Mbaise people took big risks in the past by putting all our eggs in one basket. But with the people like Barr. Success Obioma coming into APC, Mbaise won’t be found wanting anymore,” Njoku said.
Akagburuonye said he was defecting to the ruling party to work with APC elected and appointed leaders to develop the state.
While advising members of the party not to see him as a threat, he also warned members of the opposition not to see him as an opponent because his defection was ordained by God.
He promised to use his membership to emancipate his people. (The Nation)
