The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo has said that the people of the state are determined to vote back to the Government House, a government that has performed and made reforms in every sector of the economy.
The State Public Secretary of the party, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, said this on Monday at a media briefing in Benin, adding that in view of this, Edo people are more than ready to re-elect Governor Godwin Obaseki.
He said that this was in view of the obvious performance and reforms of the Obaseki-administration in the areas of education, pension, judiciary, infrastructure among others.
He also said that there was job satisfaction among workers in the state, just as salaries were consistently paid as at when due. He noted that all the reforms introduced by Obaseki has been successful, adding that these were what make a government, a government.
“Not the lies, not the agberos, not the thugs that were used to beat up and harass our parents as they trade their wares other street of Benin during the immediate past regime.
“This is a government that is compassionate and ready to serve Edo people for another four years.
“Edo people must come out and vote the PDP, because it is the party that is in order and understands the yearnings of the people, and continue to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate,” Nehikhare said.
The party chief, who also recounted Saturday’s clash between the supporters of the PDP and the APC, said that the party condemned in the strongest of terms the mobilisation of thugs to settle political scores or to even use in campaigns.
He noted that the PDP as a political party was interested in the peace and security of the state.
He however said that the state government and security agencies would nib every plan by the opposition to intimidate, threaten and frighten Edo people from coming out on September 29 in the bud.
The Publicity Secretary further said that plans by the APC candidate as well as the former National Chairman of the party to hoodwink Edo electorate would fail insisting that the people were now wiser.
According to him, Edo people cannot trust the APC and Oshiomhole after the latter had publicly campaigned against the APC candidate for the forthcoming Edo election while he was the PDP candidate during the 2016 Edo Governorship poll.
He also expressed disappointment with Oshiomhole’s new campaign strategy of begging Edo people for forgiveness saying he regretted supporting Obaseki in 2016.
He wondered how the same Oshiomhole has now come out again for the APC candidate.
He also said that the APC former National Chairman has accused the governor of abandoning some of the projects started by the immediate past administration.
He said this was laughable as Obaseki was cleaning up the mess of the immediate past administration in the state.
He described the former National Chairman as someone who flip-flops and should not be taken seriously.
“Edo people are wiser, and not to be scared but to say that come September 19, our PVCs will speak for us,” Nehikhare further said.
