Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has approved the suspension of the traditional ruler of Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state, Igwe Peter Uyanwa.

The suspension was made known through the commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C Don Adinuba, in a statement released on Monday.

He explained that a series of petitions from many people in Ukwulu and elsewhere, led to the suspension.

Obiano said the petitioners wanted to forestall an impending huge crisis that may rear up in the community against the traditional ruler

“The Anambra State Govt has decided vto suspend Igwe Uyanwa as the Igwe of Ukwulu for one year and with effect from Fri, July 24, 2020 in the first instance

“His cert of recognition as Recognition as Igwe is also withdrawn with immediate effect

“Consequently, Uyanwa can no longer function as Chairman of the traditional Rulers Council, Anambra Central Zone.

“These actions were been taken in the public interest and that the appropriate security agencies had also been notified of the latest development.”
