Meet top Nigerian stars who were born in July

Millions of people around the world were born in July, the seventh month of the year. Out of these are some frontline Nigerian entertainers.

In this edition we present the top eight of these Nigerian stars who are July babies.

RICHARD MOFE DAMIJO

Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, was born on July 6, 1961. He is an actor and former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State.

Mofe-Damijo was born in Aladja community of Udu Kingdom, near Warri, Delta State.

RITA DOMINIC

Rita Uchenna Nkem Dominic Nwaturuocha was born July 12, 1975. She is an actress.

Rita Dominic is a member of the Royal Nwaturuocha family of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area in Imo State. She is the youngest of four children. Her late parents were health care professionals, her father was a medical doctor and mother a nursing officer.

OLU JACOBS

Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs was born on July 11, 1942. Known professionally as Olu Jacobs, he is an internationally acclaimed Nigerian actor and film executive. He has starred in several British television series and international films. Olu Jacobs has been hailed by many as one of the greatest and most widely respected African actors of his generation.

Uncle Olu, as he is popularly called in Nollywood was born to parents from Egba Alake. He spent his early childhood in Kano before he left to England for further studies.

CLARION CHUKWURA

Clarion Chukwura was born as Clara Nneka Oluwatoyin Folashade Chukwurah on July 24, 1964. She is an actress and a humanitarian.

She is the mother of music video director Clarence Peters. She is from Anambra State.

KATE HENSHAW

Kate Henshaw, also known as Kate Henshaw-Nuttall was born on July 19, 1971. She is an actress. Henshaw was born in Cross River State, the oldest of four children.

TADE OGIDA

Akintade Ogidan, aka Tade Ogidan was born in July, 1960. He is a film and television screenwriter, producer and director.

Born in Lagos to middle class parents Akinola and Rachael Ogidan, he grew up in Surulere, a suburb of Lagos State.

WIZKID

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun was born on July 16, 1990. Known professionally as Wizkid (sometimes stylized as WizKid), he is a singer and songwriter. He began recording music at the age of 11.

Wizkid was born in Surulere, Lagos. He grew up in an interfaith household with twelve female siblings. His mother is a Pentecostal Christian and his father practices Islam.

YINKA DAVIES

Yinka Davies was born on July 16, 1970. She is a vocalist, dancer, lyricist and judge of reality show, Nigerian Idol. Yinka has been in the Nigerian entertainment industry for 28 years.

Her father is from Benin Republic/Sierra Leone (Lisabi clan) who moved to Lagos because he was originally from Nigeria. Mother is from Ikorodu, Lagos State while her paternal grandmother hails from the Shagamu royal family.
