The media in Bolivia is reporting the Bolivian FA have pulled out of its international friendly against Nigeria, slated for Thursday, March 26, 2015.
The Bolivian FA president, Carlos Chavez is hinging his country’s withdrawal from the friendly versus Nigeria on reports of political tension in Nigeria.
Chavez, is quoted to have said; “Armed conflict and the tense political situation in Nigeria forced our withdrawal from the game.”
A top source from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), however, expressed disappointment at the Bolivian FA’s purported withdrawal.
“The reasons given by the Bolivians are strange and unacceptable to us. FIFA have been communicated about this development.
“FIFA and our match agent are going to work out a compensation for us if the Bolivians fail to honour our agreement,” he said.
The NFF source added that the NFF had immediately swung into action “to get a replacement and ensure we play a game on March 26 in Uyo”.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had announced that the senior national team, Super Eagles, would face Bolivia in an international friendly at the newly built Akwa Ibom Stadium on March 26.
This came after a friendly with the Brazilian national team, earlier scheduled for the same date, was cancelled.
The Confederation of Brasil Football (CBF) had said that they would prefer to continue with their European World Tour rather than truncate their calendar to play against the Super Eagles.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and its FIFA match agent, Jairo Pachon, then opted for Bolivia to ensure that the international friendly window is not wasted.
