Chikwado Anijiofor, a 20-year-old native of Agbaumana in Eziagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, has been arrested by police operatives attached to Okpoko Division, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra for defiling a minor.
The victim is said to be a 6-year-old girl who resides in the same compound with the suspect.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Haruna Mohammed, said: “Suspect had on the June 17, 2020 allegedly defiled a six-years-old girl who happens to be his neighbour’s daughter.
“Scene was visited by police detectives and victim taken to the hospital for medical examination. Meanwhile, the suspect has voluntarily confessed to the offence.”
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
