The Principal Secretary to Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Clement Nweke, and the state Commissioner for Finance, Professor Ogbonnaya Chukwu, have been successfully treated for coronavirus and discharged.
The two men were discharged on Monday with other 15 persons treated and certified negative of the virus at the Virology Center, Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA 2).
Speaking with journalists at the centre during their discharge, Mr. Nweke remarked that how he contacted the virus remains a mystery to him.
He narrated how sick he was to the extent that the medical team had to use oxygen to stabilise him before commencing treatment.
He also debunked the rumor that some members of his family were affected, especially his younger brother, Professor Eugene Nweke, Dean, Postgraduate School, Ebonyi State University Abakaliki.
Prof. Eugene, who was the FETHA 2 to take his brother home, confirmed that he tested negative and the doctors confirmed so.
However, the Commissioner for Finance, Prof. Ogbonnaya Chukwu, confirmed that his wife and his son tested positive but are okay now.
